Sky's Gourmet Tacos

I'm not always big on eating alone, so I decided to call in an order and take my taco fare home. Calling in my order as I drove down Pico (using Bluetooth, of course), I was greeted by a super friendly voice. She took my name and order, gave me my total, and said everything would be ready in 15 minutes.

There was open parking right in front, and you can't miss the lime green of the building. I got there 5 minutes early, paid, chatted with the nice lady, and got my food right on time. I ordered a shrimp taco, lobster taco, and chips with guacamole. Everyone's reviews raved about the sorrel lemonade (hibiscus & lemonade), so I ordered one of those too.

The tacos made it home still in tact, the chips were seasoned and super fresh, the guacamole had a great lime taste. And oh, the sorrel lemonade. Somewhat sweet, so I let some of the ice melt, but sooo good. I'm a fan of anything with hibiscus.

And let me tell you about los tacos. Ay dios mio. Son muy delicioso. That was about the extent of my Spanish. I thought the shrimp one was definitely the best in flavor, but the lobster was pretty darn tasty. Some of the lobster flavor was lost in the sauce, but I can't complain. I didn't find anything spicy at all, so I'm thinking I'll need to request spicier next time. Even still, the flavors were sooooo bueno. The special "sassy" sauce was really complementary to the seafood.

Sushi-Gen

2 words: UNI DINNER

when they have it, that is. and when they have it, it's too good for words. most of my friends are not uni fans, and i like to keep it that way. MORE FOR ME.

uni aside, the sushi at sushi-gen is uber fresh and reasonably priced for sushi at that quality. you won't find crazy rolls here (nothing fried, no cream cheese) -- it's straight up sushi. the waiters are wonderfully nice and will tell you when you're ordering too much (who tells you that?!!!).

the wait is a pain, so try and get there before peak hours. i have been told that the lunch specials are fantastically priced, but i've never had the pleasure to partake at that hour.

the honda plaza has a $2.50 charge for parking. you can risk parking at the lot across the street, but that would be wrong. and you didn't hear it from me.

Welcome, Herding Bison!

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to introduce you all to the newest blog created by the Commentator staff in order to serve the needs of people who are attending Southwestern that will be new to the Los Angeles area.
If you or anyone you know who are students at SW would like to write about your favorite spots to eat, shop, drink, or otherwise hang out/'chillax' in the greater Los Angeles area, please leave a comment on this post with your name and E-mail address so I can contact you and allow you to post on this soon-to-be wonderful blog. I will be starting things off with my first post shortly about one of my favorite eateries in all of Los Angeles.
Hopefully we will have enough great posts on here to include some in future issues of Southwestern's finest newspaper, The Commentator.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!
